Mendoza holiday highlights

Set in the eastern foothills of the Argentinean Andes, Mendoza is the gateway city to the region’s world famous vineyards. The Mendoza Province, once a sprawling desert in the shadow of the mountains, today produces approximately 70% of Argentina’s wine. The first vine cuttings were introduced to the region during the Spanish colonisation of the Americas, bought here in the mid-16th Century from Chile; these were followed by a selection of vines from France, Italy and California to create some of today’s finest tipples.
